"Enjoy the real Tuscan experience"
Thanks for your hospitality and helpfulness in getting us settled in. Your mother and father were also delightful and very helpful. We had a lovely long chat with your mother on our last evening at Calcione.
The apartment, la Casa dell'Alloro, was wonderful and very comfortable. The view from the terrace was unforgettable especially the afternoon we saw a hot air balloon hovering over Lucignano.
This was so much the stereotypical Tuscan image with the hills and countryside laid out in front of us. The total blackout of Italy on our first night also added to the experience.
We really enjoyed our walks around the estate and especially down to the lake. It was so beautiful and added a lot to our Tuscan experience.
The location of the estate is very central to places like Florence, Sienna and Perugia and the beautiful hilltop towns like Montelpulciano and San Gimignano.
Lucignano is also a hidden jewel. It is one of our favourite places with its excellent restaurants and narrow streets. I am surprised it isn't better known and publicized.
Our only real complaint was the distance from the town to the estate which was a little inconvenient. It would obviously be better if the town was in walking distance but this is only a minor complaint. However your directions on how to get to the estate were very clear and easy to follow.
Apart from all this, thanks again for the opportunity to stay in your wonderful estate. It was a little respite from the hustle and bustle of our previous and post experiences in Rome, Vicenza and Santa Margherita.
We really enjoyed it and would recommend it to any travellers who want the chance to chill out and relax and enjoy the real Tuscan experience.
