CASA DELL’ALLORO

"Yes, Italy is a truly romantic country"
Thank you for making our stay so very special. If the following is useful for those contemplating visiting Tuscany and your remarkable castle and country home, please feel free to quote from it.

Our visit to your beautiful property was far too short, of course. We never did get the chance to go for walks and explore the lakes although seeing inside the castle was a special treat.

You do realize it was reading about your country home that encouraged us to make our trip - short as it was? Thank you so much for providing the inspiration for us, for the first time, to see a country of such incredible beauty and historical importance and to be able to experience the immense warmth and hospitality of the Italian people.
The countryside is beautifully maintained, picture postcard perfect everywhere we went. Our focus was the wine of every region we visited so we experienced everything from the Barolo of the north to Vino Nobile from Montepulciano and the vast selection in between, usually with the guidance of some very knowledgeable folk who make wine their business. In restaurants, one must not hesitate to ask for the 'house wines' which are not always mentioned on the wine list although they are usually at least Chianti Classico and are frequently served by the bottle. A lot of the more prestigious labels are often available in 375ml sizes so that can help the budget a bit.
We found prices at the supermarkets most reasonable with food of high quality and most had amazing cheese and wine selections with prices that are one third of what you would pay in Toronto for the same (rarely found) or a similar product.
Yes, Italy is a truly romantic country. It appeals to one's senses in a strong and most persuasive manner. In thirteen days we saw and experienced more than we could possibly have imagined. Yet we find ourselves longing for more and we just know we have to go back!
