LA CASETTA "Truly a welcoming place" Dear Olivella, It is hard to readjust after spending a week at Il Calcione. The week was a most relaxing vacation and a real "break" from our day to day lives. We were made to feel right at home as soon as we arrived. You and your parents immediately arrived and, as we were the first guests to stay in La Casetta, we were very touched to be invited to join your family in drinking a toast to the new house. Our "Casetta" was truly a welcoming place. The house is spacious, comfortable and beautifully decorated. The kitchen is very well equipped and comfortable to use and we had a lot of fun shopping at the local market. A few small details like some reading books and especially books of the area, some fresh wild flowers, a bottle of your own olive oil and the basket of teas, coffee and sweets made us feel very welcome and right at home. Although we went out to visit various cities and towns each day, one of the highlights of our stay was coming "home" to la Casetta in the late afternoon or early evening. We loved just sitting on our porch before and after dinner, enjoying the beautiful view of the lake, the horses grazing in the olive groves and the incredible peace and quiet. Il Calcione is a beautiful place. We had the feeling that we were in the middle of nowhere but it is actually very centrally located near all the main towns. However, it was the small little towns like Lucignano and Monte San Sanvino, only a few kilometers from the estate, that we enjoyed the most. We took long walks in the woods and to the lakes and very much enjoyed the sounds of nature and peacefulness. The tour of the castle with your father was an unexpected treat -it was very interesting, especially the archives and the church. We would highly recommend Il Calcione to anyone looking for relaxing, quiet and private place in the eastern Tuscany area.
