LA FORNACE
"A perfect place for our group"
We stayed at La Fornace the first week in April 2002. It was a perfect place for our group which consisted of our daughter, her husband, their three children ages 2 1/2, 5, and 6 1/2, my husband, and me.
Nannie and Papa (us) had our own bedroom and bathroom on the ground level. Our daughter and her husband had one bedroom, the two older children another, and the baby the third. They shared two bathrooms. The bedroom wing upstairs is across the living room from the dining room and kitchen, so if we were eating later, the children weren't bothered by happy sounds coming from the dining room. The dining room table could seat 10 comfortably, so was very spacious for the 7 of us. The kitchen is small, but does have a dish washer.
The house is about 1/2 mile from the castle, and is in a world of its own in the middle of the vineyards. There was no worry about the children being in danger from any traffic, and they loved playing in the courtyard.
Our biggest luxury was having Amel come to cook for us several times.
She is wonderful! We loved everything she made for us, and it was so convenient to eat "at home" with the children.
