"My days there are always magical"
I would be delighted to be a reference for anyone interested in La Fornace or Il Calcione in general. My days there are always magical. The road down from the castle has become so familiar to me that when I drive it for the first time I feel like I did as a child when I saw my family's summer home for the first time after a long winter, at home.
The quiet at La Fornace is incredible - I catch up on my sleep and read and cook and eat. I love to have a big fire in the open fireplace or sit outside and have dinner by candlelight. Long walks around Il Calcione in the early autumn can be brisk or delightfully warm. I can close my eyes and picture the castle in the distance or the town of Lucignano, so royal on its hilltop.
I have learned to leave the running around Tuscany to others and enjoy idle lunches in the many quiet towns a short drive from Il Calcione. Thanks for sharing La Fornace with me and I look forward to my next visit. |
