"Rustic, roomy, and deliciously quiet"
Il Calcione was the perfect two week home base for us. Set in the country and very centrally located. The accommodations are rustic, roomy, and deliciously quiet. We loved seeing the horses grazing in the olive orchards and the families of wild boar foraging in the evenings.
Casa dei Lecci has a lovely terrace where you can eat and relax with a breathtaking view of Lucignano and the Valdichiana. We regularly enjoyed a short morning walk and dip in the small lake and a cooling swim in the pool after a long day of sightseeing. The surrounding local hill towns of Lucignano, Sinalunga, Rapolano Terme, and Monte San Savino are all fun to explore. Arezzo, a lovely town, is only 20 to 30 mins. away by car and a good place to catch a train into Florence for the day. Siena is another easy excursion by car and a wonderful place to spend a day or two.
