"We felt at home immediately!"
Dear Olivella,
We are very enthusiastic about our stay in Calcione, we enjoyed it very much! First there was the cordial welcome at Casa della Pergola where Mrs Lotteringhi della Stufa waited for us, the fire burned, an enormous bouquet on the table, we felt at home immediately!
Casa della Pergola: a nice house beautifully decorated, the large garden, the beautiful view, we enjoyed it all very much. We were very grateful that Mr. and Mrs. Lotteringhi della Stufa gave us a tour through the castle and the chapel, with "the dead guy", and told us a lot about the history of the castle and the family. No need to tell about the beauty of Tuscany, that is known sufficiently I suppose.
We limited our visits, apart from Sienna, to the country side and all those beautiful little towns, we admired the Madonna del Parto of Piero della Francesca in Monterchi, the S.Antimo abbey, Etruscan graves, a farm where olive oil was produced and wine etc.etc. Every day we made an excursion and beside that there was time to walk to the lake and through the woods surrounding the castle and enjoy the sun in our garden. You see, we had a wonderful time in Calcione, its a real nice place to stay and enjoy all Tuscany has to offer.
