SAN GIUSEPPE
"The most special place in the world"
As always, the time spent at Calcione exceeded my expectations. How is this possible after my sixth visit?
It was especially wonderful to fulfill a dream of traveling with friends and family to stay at San Giuseppe. It was terrific for all 17 of us to spend time together when we wanted to – but have time alone, too. San Giuseppe makes that so possible

the house is so comfortable (and big) and offers so much privacy. The proof is that when we all left the house – we all said we wished we could have more time together!
We all agree that we miss the deafening quiet of San Giuseppe, coming back from our treks for the day to hang out at the pool and eat dinner at the big round table under the moonlight. Some of my friends thought I was exaggerating when I told them about the supermarket in Sinalunga. Now they understand how I can carry on about the bread and fresh vegetables and cheese from a supermarket half way around the world. One of the travelers from here in NYC sent an email and said that she'd walked around the corner for espresso the morning after she got home from Italy but would rather be driving to Lucingano for her caffeine at 7AM. Who wouldn't?! I told her that if I could click my heels and be back in Lucignano for pasta and truffles, I'd be gone.
I know I've told you this before but you've created the most special place in the world. It's hard work to keep everything so pristine and to respond to the many demands of your guests - but this was a most memorable gathering we've ever had. We are all grateful.
It was fun to meet the other guests the day before we left at the castle. I was happy to share some of the information I've gathered the past six years visiting Tuscany. If you have inquiries from anyone in the U.S. about Calcione, please feel free to have them contact me. Thank you again Olivella.
My best to all.
