"A most delightful stay"
Our Seattle group had a most delightful stay at San Giuseppe and Casa dell'Alloro set in the beautiful Tuscan countryside of Calcione. We were a group of 19 and each couple had his own lovely bedroom and bathroom, an unusual accommodation for any villa. We found the lovely villa of San Giuseppe just perfect for our large group as we could all gather in the dining room to enjoy the Italian cook Amel's simply divine home-cooked meals.
Amel was a fabulous cook, making everything from scratch using the area's finest ingredients in serving delicious pizza, lasagne, veal scallopini, baked chicken, and Tiramisu to name but a few of her specialities. We enjoyed most of our dinners in the villa, thanks to Amel's fine culinary talents. We brought our American Compact Discs and danced to the wee hours using Olivella's CD player.
The villa San Giuseppe, which is set amidst the picturesque Tuscan countryside with horses grazing happily on the property, has spacious rooms which are decorated with antiques. The modern conveniences of washing machine and dryer along with ovens and dishwasher serve to make the villa all the more enjoyable.
Our group visited Calcione during October 11-18, 2003, and when we first arrived we enjoyed sharing conversation and wine on the lawn overlooking the swimming pool, an amenity which each villa possesses. Olivella della Stufa, the managing owner of the Calcione properties, is a warm and engaging conversationalist who is eager to please her guests. Olivella is a charming person whose presence added an uniquely warm touch to our stay.
We would not hesitate to recommend the villas at San Giuseppe or Casa dell'Alloro to anyone who wishes to create fond memories. My husband and I look forward to the day when we again return to Calcione and continue where we left off... having more fun and creating more memorable experiences.
Sincerely,
