"All of us will vouch that Calcione is far better than portrayed"
Dear Olivella, I can't adequately describe in words how wonderful our trip to Calcione was. We spent two weeks (from Sept 16 to Sept 30, 2006) in the San Giuseppe Villa. We were a group of 10 adults and it was our first trip to Italy. I found the Calcione site on the internet early in our planning stage. We all agreed that it looked just like what we were hoping for. However, as you know, things often times are not nearly as good in reality as they are on websites or magazines, etc. All of us will vouch that Calcione is far better than portrayed. It is centrally located for you to take day trips to a different destination every day if you choose too, but yet you have your own little bit of "Tuscany" all to yourself..... read more >>

"The holiday of a lifetime"
We had a most wonderful two weeks in the house , we were a party of 16 incuding two very small children and we had room to spare, and the family will make every effort to provide cots so that children are well looked after.Everyone had the "holiday of a lifetime", The location of the house is perfect , set in its own Olive grove with a garden and swimming pool large enough for the older children to have swim and play boat races. The table outside under the oak tree was the focal point at meal times where we could all sit and enjoy the long lunches and dinners. Calcione estate also is
great for all the must see sights, Firenze is a short drive. We will be back again if not with such a large party.

SAN GIUSEPPE Dear Olivella, I had to send you a note to let you know that everyone enjoyed the beautiful accommodations at San Giuseppe. You are so kind to let us use the chapel to renew our wedding vows. It was absolutely perfect and unforgettable. The most precious part was the tour by your Dad. I believe that, beside the wedding, that was the highlight of everyone's trip. If you would like to use us as a reference for your potential guests, I would be honored. SAN GIUSEPPE "A most delightful stay" Our Seattle group had a most delightful stay at San Giuseppe and Casa dell'Alloro set in the beautiful Tuscan countryside of Calcione. We were a group of 19 and each couple had his own lovely bedroom and bathroom, an unusual accommodation for any villa. We were with the Lynam gang of 19 (Oct. 11-18,2003) and had a fantastic time. Our accomodations were perfect and we all had privacy, comfort and our own bathrooms. Amel the cook did a wonderful job with the meals and we did enjoy our sit down dinners for 19 and the wonderful wines that were purchased for us. For Frank and Diane it was a return trip to Calcione. On our first trip, we stayed at Casa Noce for two weeks (which was also perfect ) and knew we'd return with a group one day. Your estate is so well located to visit all the hill towns of Italy (and the vineyards of course) from Assisi and Cortona, in the east, to Volterra and San Gimigiano, in the west. Our party was large - 9 adults and 2 children but the house was big enough to allow everyone to find a space of their own. The gardens and the view were wonderful. It was very relaxing lying by the huge pool watching the horses grazing and trying to spot all the different wildlife as the sun set. We had a wonderful time. Olivella and her family were very warm and friendly and they property reflected their personalities. The location in central Tuscany was super. We made day trips to several cities from the Castle area including Florence and Pisa (Pisa was a long day). In addition, we made daily mountain bike trips right from the house. There are some great restaurants in the area also. We stocked up at the local bakeries for breakfast at the house. Feel free to contact me if you would like additional information. I had spent almost 30 hours on the internet trying to find a suitable property for our "large family". For us, a truly Tuscan experience meant finding a villa in a rural area that would allow access to all the wonderful villages and cities I'd visited 10 years earlier.
